Switched On Building Solutions is proud to have just completed an extensive refurbishment of Cashmere High School’s Block W6, transforming it into a highly versatile, future‑ready staff hub for their international department.
Switched On Building Solutions partnered with the school to deliver a full refurbishment and repurposing of an older building. The project involved a full interior and exterior transformation. What was once a single‑use teaching block is now a versatile blend of professional office spaces for staff, a high-quality meeting room and a modern kitchen space.
To ensure the space could serve these new purposes long‑term, the team completed a full upgrade of all building specifications, including enhanced insulation for better thermal performance, new heating and cooling systems to improve year‑round comfort, updated exterior joinery and new decorative features and finishes throughout.
Alongside the core building upgrades, our team and specialist partners delivered several detailed elements that give the refurbishment its polished finish, such as custom steelwork for new walkway rails, specialist decorative window decals and a standout window manifestation, now a defining visual feature of the block. These improvements not only lift the building’s overall quality but also align the space with the school’s vision for a welcoming, professional environment for staff.
A major component of our work was constructing extensive decking and walkways to seamlessly connect Block W6 with surrounding multi‑function spaces improving access and strengthening the overall flow of the campus.
Delivering this required precision, careful sequencing and close coordination with subcontractors, particularly once in‑ground surprises were revealed. Partway through the work, unmapped in-ground services were uncovered. These services had to be rerouted and coordinated carefully to maintain safety and keep the programme moving. Our builders worked methodically to minimise disruption to the school’s operations while maintaining high standards of workmanship. Their ability to quickly diagnose issues, design solutions, and work collaboratively on site ensured the project stayed on track, even when the ground beneath us didn’t match the plans!
This project truly reflects the strengths of our team - managing a complex refurbishment while navigating unexpected challenges with confidence and delivering high‑quality workmanship across every stage.
